Brianna Caplan Sayres writes picture books for young children, particularly rhythmic bedtime stories about vehicles, machines and busy places settling down for the night. Where Do Diggers Sleep at Night? imagines construction vehicles ending their day much as children do, and the same pattern continues with titles about trains, aeroplanes, speedboats and other machines. She also writes stories outside the bedtime format, but repetition, rhyme and familiar routines remain central to much of her work. The books are simple, soothing and strongly read-aloud in structure, with vehicle vocabulary giving mechanically minded children plenty to notice.
