Faile is the Brooklyn-based art collaboration of Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, and books under the collective's name are visual records of street works, prints, paintings, installations and exhibition projects rather than conventional authored prose. Their imagery combines comic panels, advertising fragments, pulp illustration, typography and repeated figures in distressed, layered compositions that resemble walls covered and re-covered with posters. Monographs and catalogues show how those collage techniques move between wheat-pasted street pieces, screenprints, carved wooden blocks and immersive installations. Text generally appears as short essays, interviews and project documentation, making the books browseable visual references as well as records of specific exhibitions.
