Frank Warren is best known for PostSecret, a community art project and series of books built around anonymous secrets submitted on postcards. The original PostSecret book collects handmade cards on which contributors reveal private thoughts, regrets, confessions, fears and experiences they may not have shared elsewhere. Later volumes, including My Secret and The Secret Lives of Men and Women, continue the same format with themed or selected submissions. Warren's role is primarily that of curator and project creator rather than conventional memoirist: the books derive their impact from the combination of anonymous text, collage, handwriting and image. The project belongs closer to visual culture, confessional non-fiction and community art than to standard self-help.
