The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley centres on a father with twelve bullet scars who moves with his daughter Loo to a small coastal town, where each scar opens onto a different episode from his criminal history. Tinti's novels are adventurous but character-led, combining violence with family tenderness and dark humour.
