Mabel Esther Allan wrote a large body of British children's fiction including school stories, mysteries, family adventures and books set around ballet. Over the Sea to School and A School in Danger belong to her Dundonay House school stories, while The Wood Street Secret begins a later series about children in Liverpool whose friendships and local adventures continue across several books.
