The Death of Bunny Munro follows a travelling salesman spiralling through sex, bereavement and self-destruction while dragging his young son with him. Faith, Hope and Carnage, created in conversation with Sean O’Hagan, is a book-length discussion of creativity, religion, loss and Cave’s life after the death of his son. The two novels place Cave close to transgressive and Gothic fiction, while Faith, Hope and Carnage is better approached as a musician’s conversation about grief, belief and creative work.
