Norihiro Yagi writes and draws action manga built around fighters whose powers threaten to erase their humanity. Claymore follows Clare, one of a group of silver-eyed women altered to hunt shape-shifting monsters called Yoma. The series expands from monster battles into a larger story about the organisation that created the warriors, their origins and rebellion against control. Yagi's combat is clear and fast, but the long-form appeal comes from the developing mythology and relationships among the Claymores. Claymore is a strong match for readers of Berserk or Attack on Titan who want sword-based dark fantasy, monster hunting and a story about fighters whose altered bodies are both weapon and threat.
