Russell J. Zorn is associated chiefly with Second World War aviation history and eyewitness photography. With Ian McLachlan, he co-authored Eighth Air Force Bomber Stories, a collection of more than forty accounts from American bomber crewmen based in Britain and civilians whose lives were affected by crashes, raids and wartime airfields. Zorn’s own wartime photographs form an important part of the book’s documentary character, giving the text a visual record alongside post-war research and recollection. His contribution is therefore best understood within military aviation history, oral history and photographic documentation rather than as a large standalone bibliography. For readers researching the US Eighth Air Force in Britain, Zorn’s photographs and eyewitness material give Eighth Air Force Bomber Stories much of its documentary value. Read more Less
