The Ra Expeditions follows later attempts to cross the Atlantic in reed boats inspired by ancient construction methods, while Aku-Aku describes archaeological investigations and travel on Easter Island. Heyerdahl's books combine field adventure, practical problems at sea and arguments about cultural contact, although many of his broader migration theories remain disputed by modern archaeology and genetics.
