Robin Hobb's Liveship Traders trilogy is set in the same wider world as the Farseer books but moves to Bingtown and the trading families whose lives depend on sentient liveships. Ship of Magic, The Mad Ship and Ship of Destiny follow the Vestrit family, the liveship Vivacia, the pirate Kennit and several other viewpoints through one continuous story. The books should be read in order, although the trilogy can be started without first reading Farseer. Compared with Fitz's tightly personal narration, this sequence uses a broad ensemble cast and gives more space to trade, slavery, piracy and the changing politics of the coast. Read more Less
