The Alloy of Law introduces Waxillium Ladrian, a lawman with metal-based Allomantic and Feruchemical powers, along with Wayne and Marasi; Shadows of Self, The Bands of Mourning and The Lost Metal develop their cases into a much larger conflict. The four books should be read in order and make more sense after the original Mistborn trilogy because they build on its history and magic.
