Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series follows Percy Jackson, a boy who discovers that the Greek gods are real and that he is a demigod son of Poseidon. Percy trains at Camp Half-Blood and goes on quests with friends including Annabeth Chase and Grover, meeting monsters, gods and figures drawn from Greek mythology in a modern American setting. The original five books form a continuous story and should be read from The Lightning Thief onwards. Later Percy Jackson novels such as The Chalice of the Gods and Wrath of the Triple Goddess return to Percy at a later stage of his life, so they make more sense after the earlier adventures. The books use Percy's humorous first-person voice, quick chapters and frequent action while introducing myths through the plot rather than as lessons. Read more Less
