Anthony Trollope's Chronicles of Barsetshire follow clergy, landowners and families in the fictional county of Barsetshire. The Warden introduces the dispute surrounding Septimus Harding and Hiram's Hospital, while Barchester Towers expands the cathedral politics and brings in a much larger recurring cast. Doctor Thorne, Framley Parsonage, The Small House at Allington and The Last Chronicle of Barset continue with new central households whose lives overlap. The six novels are best read in publication order, although each has its own principal story.
