Pandora's Star starts when astronomers discover that two distant stars have mysteriously disappeared, leading to an expedition and a threat that reaches back into Commonwealth society; Judas Unchained completes the same story. The two long novels should be read in order and effectively form one very large narrative split into two volumes. Hamilton uses multiple viewpoints and several apparently separate plotlines before bringing them together, combining space opera, investigation, advanced technology and large-scale conflict.
