The Eternal Champion, Phoenix in Obsidian and The Dragon in the Sword form a connected sequence and are best read in order. Erekosë is one incarnation of Moorcock's wider Eternal Champion idea, linking the trilogy conceptually with characters such as Elric without making those other series required reading.
