Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles begin with Interview with the Vampire and expand the life of Lestat de Lioncourt and a large circle of vampires across different periods and places. The novels change viewpoint and sometimes concentrate on different characters, but later books build heavily on the history and relationships established earlier, so publication order is the simplest route through the series. Early volumes such as The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned establish much of the mythology, while the later Prince Lestat books bring many strands of the vampire world together.
