What you're entitled to, in plain English.
Readerama is a peer-to-peer marketplace. Books are sold directly by private individuals, with Readerama acting as the seller’s agent to arrange payment and help buyers and sellers resolve problems. Readerama is not the seller of the books listed on the marketplace.
Change-of-mind returns
Because you are buying from a private individual, the usual 14-day cancellation right for purchases from businesses does not apply. Orders cannot be cancelled or returned simply because you have changed your mind.
When you can request a refund
The seller is responsible for providing a full refund if your book:
- Does not arrive;
- Arrives damaged; or
- Is manifestly different from its listing, for example, it is the wrong book, has missing pages or has serious damage that was not disclosed.
If tracking shows that your book has been delivered but you have not received it, or if it arrives damaged or manifestly different from its listing, you must report the problem to Readerama within 48 hours of delivery being confirmed.
If a book has not received a successful delivery scan, contact us once the estimated delivery window has passed.
How to report a problem
Email support@readerama.com and include your order number and details of the problem. For damaged or misdescribed books, you must also provide clear photographs of the book and its packaging.
Please do not return the book unless Readerama asks you to do so. If a return is required, we will provide the return method and address. There will be no return postage charge to the buyer for an authorised return.
Books lost or damaged in transit
If a book is lost or damaged in transit, Readerama may use the information and photographs you provide to raise a claim with the delivery provider.
The seller is responsible for packaging the book securely, using appropriate delivery insurance and providing the buyer’s refund. Any claim against the delivery provider is separate from the buyer’s refund. The seller remains responsible for the refund whether or not compensation is available or can be recovered from the delivery provider.
Readerama is not responsible for books that are lost or damaged in transit.
Refunds
Once we have confirmed that a book was not delivered, arrived damaged or was manifestly different from its listing, the seller is responsible for providing a full refund of the purchase price and original delivery charge. Readerama will administer the refund on the seller’s behalf.
The refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 working days of the claim being approved or, if an authorised return is required, after the returned book has been received. Your payment provider may take additional time to credit the funds.
This policy does not affect your legal rights. Although private sales are not covered by the same consumer cancellation rights as purchases from businesses, books must still match the description provided by the seller.
