We want to hear from you - Readerama

We want to hear from you

One month in: an update and a question for you

It’s been a few weeks since we launched Readerama and I’ve been quieter than usual on here, mostly because I’ve been heads-down working on the site, fixing and changing things as we find them.

So here’s where we are. Since our launch on 10th June, 35 bookshops have been sent up, 1,200 books listed, and we’ve sent another 3 boxes of books out to schools. I’m proud of that, it’s a real foundation in a short space of time. But now comes a different stage. I want to build on it properly, and that means understanding things from your side, not just ours.

Why I’m telling you this

When I wrote about why I wanted to start Readerama, and when we packed that first box of books for schools, the response was lovely. People liked the idea, believed in the mission, and told us so. That matters, and it’s part of why we keep going.

But the next stage of building Readerama well is making it as easy as possible for that support to turn into people actually browsing, ordering, and using it. So instead of writing another post about why Readerama exists, I want to use this one to ask you something instead because you’re in a much better position than me to tell me what’s working and what isn’t.

What I’d love to know

If you’ve visited Readerama, what was that like? Was it easy to find what you were looking for? Anything that felt unclear, clunky, or like it was missing?

And if you’re one of our 35 bookshops, how’s it been from your side so far, is listing straightforward, are you getting interest, and what would make this more useful for you? And if you’re one of the newer sellers who’s joined us since launch, welcome, we’re really glad you’re here, and thank you for taking a chance on us early.

How to tell me

Just reply here or drop me an email georgina@readerama.com. A couple of sentences is genuinely all it takes, and every bit of it helps shape what we build next.

We started Readerama to make it easier for readers to buy and sell books directly. A month in, that mission hasn’t changed but the best way to grow into it is with your input, not just our instincts. So what should we know?

  1. I would definitely appreciate filters or tags in childrens other than age. So I could look for things like school, pirates, comic, history, mystery. Could be tags generated by sellers maybe then could have a hive mind to it. Just better clickability and an understand of how good a deal we have..what would postage be like. Can I make a bundle and buy 10 things from 1 seller. Can see good books at good prices but haven't committed yet.
    1. Hi Sarah, thank you so much for this, it’s really helpful. We have tagged books so they should come up if you search for things like “pirates” but maybe we should make those tags visible so they’re more obvious. You can absolutely buy 10 items from one seller, we don’t currently have discounts on bundles, but we are working on showing postage so you can see the cost. If you’d like to give any more suggestions please email georgina@readerama.com every suggestion is helpful.
