Do you take commission from sellers?
No. Readerama doesn’t charge sellers commission, so the price you set is the price you earn. There are no monthly charges, no listing fees, and no charge if your book doesn’t sell.
What is the buyer protection fee?
When someone buys a book, a small buyer protection fee is added at checkout. It’s paid by the buyer, not the seller, and it’s what keeps Readerama safe to use. It covers secure payment processing and means that if a book doesn’t arrive or isn’t as described, the buyer is protected and we’ll put it right.
It’s also how we keep the lights on, so we can keep building a marketplace that gives books a longer life and supports children’s literacy along the way.
So what does it cost me to sell?
Nothing to list, and nothing if your book doesn’t sell. When it does, you receive your asking price in full.
Once your book arrives, we allow the buyer two days to check it over and let us know if anything’s wrong. After that, the money is released to your Stripe account, and Stripe pays it out to your bank account once your balance reaches £20.
We’ve set it up this way to save you money. Stripe charges a small fee on each payout, so rather than sending lots of tiny payments with a fee taken from each one, your earnings build up and are sent across together. Which means more of your money stays yours.
Who pays for postage?
The buyer pays postage at checkout, calculated from the postage options you chose in your Bookshop Settings.
